Getting a manicure is always fun – who doesn’t love being lathered with hand lotion while simultaneously getting a massage? But, you’re missing out by not doing your own nails occasionally. At-home manicures allow you to be creative and explore your artsy side with DIY designs and styles. It is true that some can be super messy and difficult to do or are so not worth the time and effort…so we rounded up some designs that are fun, easy, cute and totally worth trying out!
- CHALKBOARD NAILS: Chalkboard nails are not only pretty, but they are also super easy. All you need is a foam swab and several polish colors of your choice. Once you’ve chosen your colors, paint a line on each one on the swab and then proceed by pressing it onto each nail. Voila, you’ve just given yourself a multicolored mani.
- VELVET NAILS: Velvet nails aren’t that common which is what makes them so fun and unique (not to mention the fact that you probably can’t get them done at the salon). In order to get the perfect Velvet mani, apply a coat of polish and let it dry. Once they are completely dry, apply a second thick layer immediately followed by placing a pinch of flocking powder on each wet nail. Gently pat down the powder onto each nail. Allow to dry for 15 minutes. Once they are dry, take a soft brush and sweep the excess powder off the nails. Tada! If you follow the directions correctly your nails will not only be cute but they’ll be super soft! Get step-by-step directions on Scarves.com!
- SHARPIE MANICURES: Yes, it is true, you CAN use Sharpies to spice up your mani! Try out a gold Sharpie or even a hot pink marker to perfect those little hearts that are way too difficult to do with a nail polish brush. Get inspired at youputiton.com!
